The Testa di Moro ("Moor's Head") is a Sicilian legend about a woman who falls in love with a Moorish man. After he leaves her, she is heartbroken, but when he returns, she kills him in revenge for his betrayal and decapitates him. She places his head in her garden, where it becomes a planter, symbolizing both love and revenge. The iconic ceramic heads, often used as decorative pieces, represent Sicily's mix of cultures, including the influence of the Moors.
